Mummy's Stories

Where’s my husband?

Don’t worry. I know exactly where he is. But when it comes to Thursdays, we seriously hardly see each other. It’s all for the best though and here’s why…

Daddy leaves for work at 7:15am and gets home at about 5:45pm, after which we have a quick bite to eat then at 6:30 I have Zumba which I love so much! I would do it everyday if I could (and if it was free!) For me, it is the most fun workout you can do. It incorporates dance, body strengthening and stretches and oh boy does it make you sweat! That’s an hour so I get home take a shower and bye bye! Daddy is off for basketball. He has recently started playing again and really enjoys it. I encourage it because it’s great exercise for him and it gives him a chance to just have some time to let off steam and sweat all the negativity out, if you know what I mean. Daddy gets home around 11:00pm, by which time me and Milly are zonked!

At first, I was a little worried if I would be uncomfortable with this routine but I really enjoy it. I love going out to exercise and I love seeing daddy fresh and rejuvenated the next day! It’s a win win! Plus, he gets some alone time with Milly while I go out, which I know he loves!

Aaaaand it’s helping us stick to our health goals of exercising regularly.

And I think things like this work when a husband and wife are willing to share the load and let each other take a bit of time off. I was talking to another mummy the other week and she said that since her baby was born (around 4 years ago), she has never had any alone time! I respect their choices but I can’t help but give a sigh of relief knowing that daddy will encourage me to go out and do something if I want to.

And that’s how it works every other day when we go to the gym at our condo. I go for 30 minutes, then he goes for 30 minutes. Then we come back refreshed and enjoy the evening. Ahhh… love you daddy! ❤️
