Bye bye toxins!

We are currently T minus 6 days till my brothers wedding and I am (a) shattered all the time, and (b) experiencing a really weird teenager-like skin outbreak. 😢

But not to worry. I’ve decided to give my body a break and do a quick 2 day cleanse, in hopes that I will be feeling and looking a bit better by this weekend!

So first of all, I did a quick search as to where you could go and buy it (because I don’t have the time or the discipline to juice them all myself!). I ended up at Lifejuice Co. The nearest outlet was in Empire Subang, inside Jaya Grocer.

And guess what, they have a promo! Yay! It was RM69 per day for the Signature Cleanse, which is 6 bottles. So I got 2 sets, for 2 days! The kind man serving me stickered up the bottles with numbers so i don’t need to go back and check each time which one to drink.

It also comes with a schedule which includes the timing and order with a few tips.

So you basically have a juice drink every 2 hours from 9am till 7pm. It’s advised that you also drink about 10 glasses of water during the day too (especially in a hot climate like Malaysia!) And if you end up being so hungry and you JUST CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE, you are allowed to snack on things such as fresh fruits, nuts, salad or vegetable broth.

(A quick side note. I am currently still b’feeding Milly, which means that the cleanse calorie intake is no way near enough for me. As such, I will be eating loads of fruit and veg in between the juices. Avocados have almost 200 calories so they would be a good one to snack on! I know it’s not ideal, but I don’t want to risk my milk factory shutting down! 😂)

Anyway, back to it. It is currently Sunday morning and I’m about to start the cleanse.

I’m not going for weight loss, because I know you put it all back on afterwards. But for those who are interested, I weighed in this morning at 56.6kg. Pretty average for me post baby.

9am – Nutty Professor!

If you like soya milk, you will love this! I found it delicious as a breakfast drink. It kind of feels like drinking some cereal blended up with soya milk. For me, yum! I could have this everyday!

11am – Sun-kissed

So this one is supposed to be the pure grapefruit juice but they were out of stock. Apparently, this is the closest one so we replaced it. I loooooove this juice! The sourness of the grapefruit, the sweetness of the carrot, the ginger! Yum!

1pm – Green-tox

Ill be honest, I wasn’t looking forward to this one. In my head I know the ‘green’ ones are the healthiest but I can’t get past the look of it! Anyway, after the first couple of sips, the taste becomes sweet. I think it’s probably from the pineapple and agave nectar. The after taste, however, is definitely kale! 😂

3pm – Passion

Mmm… this one is so delicious! I love passion fruit and, since it’s quite expensive in Malaysia, I hardly get the chance to eat it. I drank it slowly and enjoyed it sooo much! I can almost feel my blood vessels getting that gentle scrub!

5pm – Beet-le Juice

Ok, so if you don’t like beetroot, this is going to be really hard for you because it’s pretty much all you can taste! Thankfully, I love beetroot and that cayenne afterburn feels fiery and delicious! Your liver will thank you!

7pm – Salad in a Bottle

Well, this one tastes like… salad! Haha. It really does feel like you’re having a meal and I’m really hoping that it will keep me going through the night without feeling too hungry!

(I also had a light salad for dinner that consisted of half a cucumber, some romaine lettuce, a yellow bell pepper and a dressing made of olive oil and apple cider vinegar.)

It’s Monday morning and I slept, well, as good as anyone with a baby who wakes up 3 times in the night. I was actually really looking forward to my ‘nutty professor’ for breakfast which is a good sign, I think?

I also weighed myself out of curiosity and I am now 55.5kg! I guess the food I normally eat weighs quite a lot haha. 😂

I just got dressed and I can honestly say that I feel less bloated. Like, my pants seem to fasten a little easier and I just feel more… what’s the word… I don’t know. But I feel more comfortable.

As for my skin, it pretty much looks the same. I think it will take a few days to see if that has progressed or not.

So I’m going to follow the same schedule as yesterday. I’ll check in later! 👍🏼

So it’s over! I’ve done it!

I followed the same routine for the second day and I feel great. I can’t say that I feel like a new person, because that is unrealistic for a 2-day detox. My skin ha started cleaning up and will hopefully be fine once the weekend arrives.

I would suggest this for people who just want to give their body a break for a couple of days. Consuming only juices leaves your body with more energy for other tasks, such as healing and recovery.

I will definitely do it again. I’m aiming for once a month. Let me know if you have done a detox and how you felt about it!

(On a side note, the detox did not affect my b’feeding or my baby at all, but I would still consult with your doc before you do it during a time when you’re still nursing.)

Stay healthy!

No Time To Be Weak!

One of the hardest things I have learnt since becoming a mother is that even when you are at your weakest, on your knees, praying for a break, you can’t stop. You can’t just say ‘ok, I’m out for the next 3 hours. I’m going to go and get a hot chocolate, put a girly movie on, then take a long nap.’ No, no, no.

And I’m having one of those days. I’m not feeling too great, I’ve got way too much running through my head and I’m going to bed but all I can think about is ‘how many times is Milly going to wake up tonight?’ And recently, she has been waking up every couple of hours. I’m not sure why. I have tried so many different tactics to train her to sleep through the night but to no avail. It has even got to the point now where me and baby are sleeping in another room just so hubby can get a good nights sleep. I think the past year and a half of running on less sleep has finally caught up with me.

And it’s in these moments that’s you have to just stare at your little princess and remember that any sacrifices made for her and her well being are so incredibly worth it. I could wake up 10 times during the night and she still makes me smile when we finally get up in the morning.

And that is amazing. The fact that this little human can make you feel so happy and content. It’s a wonderful feeling and one of my favourite things about being a mummy.

How could you not smile at this gorgeous face?! 💕

Where’s my husband?

Don’t worry. I know exactly where he is. But when it comes to Thursdays, we seriously hardly see each other. It’s all for the best though and here’s why…

Daddy leaves for work at 7:15am and gets home at about 5:45pm, after which we have a quick bite to eat then at 6:30 I have Zumba which I love so much! I would do it everyday if I could (and if it was free!) For me, it is the most fun workout you can do. It incorporates dance, body strengthening and stretches and oh boy does it make you sweat! That’s an hour so I get home take a shower and bye bye! Daddy is off for basketball. He has recently started playing again and really enjoys it. I encourage it because it’s great exercise for him and it gives him a chance to just have some time to let off steam and sweat all the negativity out, if you know what I mean. Daddy gets home around 11:00pm, by which time me and Milly are zonked!

At first, I was a little worried if I would be uncomfortable with this routine but I really enjoy it. I love going out to exercise and I love seeing daddy fresh and rejuvenated the next day! It’s a win win! Plus, he gets some alone time with Milly while I go out, which I know he loves!

Aaaaand it’s helping us stick to our health goals of exercising regularly.

And I think things like this work when a husband and wife are willing to share the load and let each other take a bit of time off. I was talking to another mummy the other week and she said that since her baby was born (around 4 years ago), she has never had any alone time! I respect their choices but I can’t help but give a sigh of relief knowing that daddy will encourage me to go out and do something if I want to.

And that’s how it works every other day when we go to the gym at our condo. I go for 30 minutes, then he goes for 30 minutes. Then we come back refreshed and enjoy the evening. Ahhh… love you daddy! ❤️

Mummy’s Time…

Well it’s not often that I get some ‘me-time’. And I’m totally ok with that because I absolutely adore being with my family and I plan to keep it that way. But… when I need my nails doing/ hair cutting/ massage, it is good to know that I have those around me (mostly my mum) who are willing to take Milly for a while and let me enjoy my time.

So I’m on the way looking forward to a good pampering but, the thing is, when I get there, I find myself looking at the clock wondering if my princess is okay! I was once told by a mummy that she loves going to work so she can have some ‘me-time’! Well, I only go in to the office 1 day per week and I know I would much rather be at home playing with Milly, even though it’s true that it’s more tiring! The flexibility of my work allows me to do most of it at home, so when Milly takes a nap, I use that time to get it done.

Back to the point, I love having a pampering session but I love it more when I get home and see my little girl run up to me and smile as if she hasn’t seen me all week. That is seriously the best feeling!

Plus, my nails are looking pretty good right now, don’t you think?

(I always get my nails done at Cass Nail Salon, Sunway Giza. They have a promo for first time customers. Check them out on FB!)
